The new winter 2023 anime television series “NieR: Automata Ver1.1a” is based on an action role-playing title Nier: Automata by Platinum Games and Square Enix. Recently, there has been an increase in video games that have been converted for the big screen.
Additionally, where live-action adaptations are typically doomed to failure, animations have generally proved successful.
The anime adaptation of the game was announced during the fifth anniversary live stream of Nier: Automata. It is directed by Ryouji Masuyama and animated by A-1 Pictures. The series premiered on January 8, 2023, on Tokyo MX and other networks.
Plot Story
It is the year 11954 AD. Earth had been invaded by extraterrestrials and now replaced by an army of intelligent mechanical lifeforms. The last of the humans have fled to the moon, and an elite android force called YoRHa has been sent to retake Earth.
Three YoRHa androids, 2B, 9S, and A2, spend their days fighting the 14th Machine War on Earth and exploring what’s left of it as we follow the story from their points of view.
Episode 3 Recap
Episode 3 opens with the Resistance Squad returning to their base along with 2B and 9S. However, not long after arriving there the YoRha androids are accompanied by another member of the resistance, Jackass, to go to a nearby desert where odd occurrences had been reported.
The group is attacked by machine lifeforms as soon as they arrive in the desert. Once they are removed from their way, our trio follows a deeper path into the desert and an abandoned home complex. Here 2B and 9S are separated from Jackass and find machine lifeforms mimicking humans.
What to expect from NieR: Automata Episode 4
It has been confirmed that the series would pursue an original alternative plot with the second episode. The third episode’s title and teaser trailer haven’t been made public by the anime.
However, it is anticipated that episode 3 will continue where episode 3 left off, continuing 2B and 9S’ quest to discover the reason for the disappearance and death of other YoRHa androids in the deserted complex and investigate more about those evolving human-like machine lifeforms.
In the forthcoming episode, Lily, who has emerged as one of the series’ most intriguing characters, might be discussed as how she views 2B and 9S.
Pascal, a kind pacifist machine that mentors like-minded machine lifeforms and teaches them to live peacefully, will also be presented to viewers in the upcoming episode.
We might also see the interaction between intelligent machines who developed emotions and humans and find out more about how and why the conflict on Earth started.
