Kyudo Ban
Minato is upset. He does not understand why he is the only one who cannot take shots. Tomio sensei suggests he and the team take this time to reflect on their performance and identify their shortcomings. Masa san tells Minato to perfect his form while he is on the ban.
In class, Minato begins to drift off into the world of Kyudo as the teacher is teaching. He feels embarrassed to get called by the teacher. Seiya later gives him a summary of what happened in the class. He tells Minato that Masa san has a reason as to why he is doing this and that he should trust him.
Hanazawa, Seo and Shiragiku are discussing participating in a local Kyudo tournament. Just then Seiya comes in and asks Hanazawa for a favor.
Kaito practices shooting during the lunch break. In their art class, Nanao and Ryouhei discuss the difference between a shot that’s beautiful and a shot that hits.
The scene shifts from Kazemai to Tsujimine. We see a parallel, where Masa emphasizes the importance of form, while Nikaido tells his teammates that form doesn’t matter much as long as the shots hit the target.
Nikaido seems to enjoy the freedom of practicing without a real coach. He and his team take it as a challenge to win the tournament without guidance from a coach.
Finding a Form
Back at Kazemai Kyudo Club, Seiya asks Masa san to record their practice so that they can review it later. The team wonders what went wrong during the tournament if they could do well in the practice sessions. Kaito tells them it was his fault, but Nanao points out that he was thrown off his rhythm. Minato is shocked to hear that he could be part of the problem.
At the station, Nanao and Kaito have an argument and they go home in different trains. Minato is thinking over what could have gone wrong. He asks Hanazawa for the recording of the Prefectural Tournament, but apparently, Seiya had already taken it from her.
He runs to Seiya’s house. They watch the recording together. His performance leaves him shocked: his form is nothing like his usual way of shooting. He finally understands what went wrong in the tournament. His desire for perfection interfered with the team’s results.
After the rude awakening, he leaves to find Masa san at the temple. Masa san gives him some life lessons but refuses to answer any of Minato’s questions. Minato is upset but tells him that he will surely find all the answers by himself and rushes out on his bicycle.
