A popular theory is making the rounds on the Internet about the possibility of the Trinity Killer making a return in the first season of Dexter: New Blood. How much of this is true?
When a Dexter Revival show was announced, fans all around the globe were a hundred percent welcoming, but also intrigued.
How would the show work after all these years but also excited for the chance to see Dexter continue his journey and get a new ending after the Season 8 Series Finale, which wasn’t well-received, to say the least?
It was announced that a whole bunch of new characters would appear, which sounded appropriate considering how Dexter is not in Sunny Miami anymore and would have to deal with new characters.
It was also announced that some old characters would also appear, which included Debra Morgan, Harrison Morgan, and also Arthur Mitchell, popularly known in the universe of Dexter as the Trinity Killer.

The Trinity Killer
The trinity killer was a fan favorite villain who arguably dealt Dexter the biggest blows out of all the antagonists with who Dexter Morgan crossed paths.
He was the antagonist in season 4 and it seemed that Dexter had caught up to him and finally was able to add The Trinity Killer to his trophies as well but not before Arthur Mitchell took the life of Rita Morgan, thus having the last laugh.
The return of The Trinity Killer was the most surprising out of all the other returning characters. Considering the fact that he was killed by Dexter in Season 4, his return raised the curiosity of fans.
A return from the dead definitely seems out of the cards as the showrunners have made it clear that they will not undo anything that the original show has already established.
Infamous serial killer return In Dexter: New Blood?
The most popular theory out there so far is the Harrison angle. We all know about Dexter’s Dark Passenger, and how it was formed within him at a very young age when he witnessed the killing of his mother inside a shipping container in front of him.
This one incident resulted in his dark passenger being born out of the blood. This incident and the birth of The Dark Passenger were talked about a lot of times during the 8 seasons of Dexter.
This can be applied to Harrison as well. Harrison Morgan also witnessed the murder of his mother in front of him and his dark passenger could have been born out of blood in a similar way to his father.
Dexter considered him too young to remember the gruesome incident, but there are signs of Harrison remembering this incident in the first 5 episodes that have been released so far which means he could very well have a Dark Passenger as well hiding within him.
This is where Arthur Mitchell, played by John Lithgow, comes in. The Trinity Killer was the one who killed Harrison’s mother.
Arthur Mitchell could very well be what Debra is to Dexter in the Revival or what Harry Morgan was to Dexter during the original run.
Although the role he plays could be slightly more sinister than what Debra or Harry ever played and slightly more similar to the role the Ice Truck Killer, Brian Moser played when Dexter started seeing him instead of Harry during the show’s original run.
What does this mean for Dexter:
Dexter: New Blood has already shown what Harrison is capable of. If the Trinity killer has manifested himself into Harrison’s brain, then we could be headed for a gruesome showdown between Harrison and Dexter.
This does not bode well for Dexter, as we know despite being a ruthless killer, Dexter would never do anything to intentionally hurt his family.
If this is the way The Trinity Killer returns, we could see the man who defeated Dexter once, take him down again. And that is only fair because if Dexter has taught us anything over the years, the only person who can take down a serial killer is another one.
